Improved Disk Turbine Opens Door to Kinetic Energy Drives™

New engine type ready for global use

Munising, MI - PNGinc is taking a turbo-hydraulic approach to creating the new engine type that will dominate the 21st century. Based on improvements to the hundred-year old Tesla disk turbine, the company's Kinetic Energy Drive™ draws on clean combustion breakthroughs and advanced engine know-how developed in their labs.

The compact KE Drive™ design is lighter than hybrid electrics and fuel cells, with superior performance, greater power-to-weight ratios, and negligible environmental impact. It is the first multi-fuel engine able to run on both fossil fuels and 100% hydrogen with zero damage to the engine – and it's designed with low-cost manufacturing in mind.

"I know that a lot of people are gambling on fuel cells," says CEO Ken Rieli, "but from a technical point of view, that technology will not be mature enough for widespread use for another couple of decades – too far down the line to hit the mark as far as global emissions standards and depleting fuel reserves go. Our KE Drive™ will be ready in 12-24 months with the right backing."

Rieli's company has worked steadily on developing key components necessary to making the technology work. In 2002 his improved geometry disk turbine gained 30% more efficiency than the conventional Tesla turbine. This was followed by breakthroughs in waste oil-to-steam powerplants. The company is now working on improvements in its proprietary Controlled Detonation Combustion model to complete the Kinetic Energy Drive™ for automotive use.

"Our background in pulse combustion, high efficiency boundary-layer turbines, and hydrostatics gives us a unique perspective in pulling these pieces of technology together into a cost-effective next-generation drive," says Rieli. "This is the killer technology that's going to compete with piston engines in the 21st century, surpassing the performance of hybrid electrics and fuel cells in all areas."
